June 8, 2026 Update

Over the past several months, Chase Oaks Church has been exploring a transition of the Local Good Pantry to a coalition of community partners.

From the beginning, our vision for Local Good has been about more than food distribution. We believe addressing community needs requires collaboration, connection, and long-term support. One of our core values is that we don't go it alone. Lasting solutions happen when organizations work together.

As part of that vision, we began conversations with churches, nonprofits, community organizations, and civic leaders about the future of food assistance in Richardson. We believed the next step for the pantry was to build a coalition of partners rooted in the community who could continue and expand this work.

While those conversations generated encouraging momentum, a significant change occurred in recent weeks. We were informed by our landlord that operating a food pantry at our current location will no longer be an option.

As a result, we are shifting from a pantry transfer to a pantry closure at this location while continuing to work alongside community partners to explore future solutions for addressing food insecurity in Richardson.

What we want our community to know is this: the Local Good Pantry is closing, but our commitment to serving neighbors remains unchanged.

Our role is evolving from operating a food pantry to supporting community-rooted solutions that can continue meeting needs in Richardson. We are actively working with the City of Richardson, the North Texas Food Bank, local nonprofits, and other community leaders to help identify ways to address the gap created by the pantry's closure.

Important Dates

  • Beginning the week of June 15, pantry distribution will move to Thursdays only.

  • The final food distribution at the Local Good Pantry will take place on Thursday, July 30.

Throughout June and July, community leaders and partner organizations will continue meeting to discuss possible next steps. While operating a pantry at our current location is no longer possible, we remain hopeful that collaborative solutions will emerge to continue serving our neighbors.

We are deeply grateful for everyone who has been part of the Local Good Pantry over the past two and a half years. Together, volunteers, donors, staff, community partners, and supporters have helped provide food, care, dignity, and hope to thousands of individuals and families throughout our community.
